What is a "third space?" Well, according to the Google AI bot, it's a "a physical or social space outside of your home and workplace where people can gather informally, connect with others, and build community."  "In his book The Great Good Place (1989), Ray Oldenburg argues that third places are important for democracy, civic engagement, and a sense of place." (thanks Wikipedia) 

Current trends to privatize third spaces, make them available for some folks but not all. However, the idea of the third space is that it is supposed to be FOR ALL! Examples of third spaces include parks, public libraries, cafes, spiritual centers, movie theaters, malls, and town squares (like Pioneer Courthouse Square). These places promote gathering and allow for connectivity among diverse groups of people and all kinds of activity.
